Senior Associate
Position description
Senior Associate is a leadership position at Douglas Gould and Company. Senior Associates are entrusted with significant client service, project management, business development and strategic planning responsibilities.
Senior Associates report to a Vice President. They are responsible for management and profitability of projects they direct and, together with the VP, are accountable for achieving the profitability of project and client goals. They have leadership and advisory responsibilities for associates, media coordinators and other team members. Senior Associates play a key role in client service and are expected to cover for Vice Presidents when they are unavailable.
Requirements
Background:
Senior Associates must have five to eight years of professional experience in communications or public relations, with experience in the non-profit sector strongly preferred. Other areas of desirable experience include advocacy, public policy, journalism and marketing. A college degree or equivalent experience is required.
Experience:
- Demonstrated excellence in communications—verbal, written, and presentation
- Proven record of media relations and media placements
- Experience leading the successful implementation of media/marketing campaigns
- Experience in managing a wide range of online marketing projects within the context of strategic communications plans
- Project planning, budgeting and management experience
- Personnel management and coaching/mentoring experience

- Ability to successfully develop business
- Ability to build and manage multiple relationships with clients and colleagues
- Ability to develop work plans and budgets for a project team, to delegate responsibilities to maximize efficiencies and to monitor and assess progress

Senior Associates must be able to excel and perform broad implementation tasks, but that alone is not enough. They are expected to play an external role in building the image, body of work and future of the firm. Significant travel is required.
