Spokesperson and Advocacy Training

Being able to deliver the message passionately and effectively is the hallmark of a great advocate. But it isn’t easy. Fear and nerves tie up the tongue. Our clients’ issues can be complex: they often require multiple levels of understanding and they often don’t rise to the top of minds as much as we’d like.

This is where our ability to build client’s capacity really makes the difference. We help everyone become a better speaker, and we can turn some people into stars. We develop both the content for spokespeople and the technical skills required across multiple platforms – print, television, radio – that enable them to make the case effectively.

The best way to provide media training to spokespeople is to place them in a series of scenarios replicating the real-life encounters they are likely to have. We offer guidance on best practices, model techniques and through a process of constructive criticism and support; we help clients deliver the goods.

DG&Co. has provided communications and media training to hundreds of spokespeople in the US and around the world. Our recent trainees have included:

  • UN Population Fund leaders for a global release of the State of the World Population Report
  • Community College presidents, trustees and key staff in California, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Washington, Louisiana, Texas
  • Arts education leaders across the US
  • Leaders of the California PTA
  • Parent spokespeople for the National Center for Learning Disabilities
  • Methodist and Episcopal clergy and lay leaders working to promote LGBT inclusion in their denominations.
