Nancy Goldstein
Senior Media Strategist
Nancy has been delighted to watch her biggest complaint as a kid—“It’s not fair!”— become the basis for her livelihood. She is a media Renaissance woman known for making complex and even unpopular issues understandable and acceptable to politicians, the public, and the press in areas including public health, human and constitutional rights, LGBT and women’s issues, HIV/AIDS, drug policy, homelessness, and criminal justice. She is also the co-editor of a well-received anthology on the gender politics of HIV/AIDS in women (NYU Press).
As a communications and media strategist, Nancy’s skills include strategic planning, messaging, writing, pitching, and media training assistance. She has partnered with non-profit organizations including the Center for Constitutional Rights, the Ford Foundation, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, the Harm Reduction Coalition, and the HIV Women’s Collaborative of New York. Her opinion pieces and blogs in prominent places such as the Washington Post and the Guardian garner high value attention for clients.
In Nancy’s 20+year career, she has also served as Director of Communications & Development for National Advocates for Pregnant Women, Associate Director of Development at National Council of Jewish Women and as a Senior Grant Writer for The Partnership for the Homeless.
Nancy earned her Ph.D. in English from Brandeis University with the help of a scholarship and a Mellon All-But-Dissertation Fellowship, and counts successfully teaching Foucault to undergraduates at Harvard, MIT, and Connecticut College as one of her life’s greatest triumphs. She’s an avid cyclist and cook, a yogini wannabe, and a carbo fiend.
