International Development
From its inception, Douglas Gould and Company has been dedicated to strengthening America's commitment to improving the lives of others around the world. Our work on a variety of issues, from rapid population growth to economic development, has always centered on interpreting global issues for an often skeptical public. We have used the latest research techniques and data to frame our clients' messages in ways that mobilize support and engage new constituents.

After a major competition, this international development and relief organization was selected to build a major interactive learning and engagement center focused on mobilizing support for ending world hunger. Located at Battery Park City across from the Irish Hunger Memorial, the center will employ the latest interactive learning techniques for students and other visitors. Douglas Gould and Company was part of the original bid submission, designed the preliminary communications strategy, has assisted with branding the center and will publicize its opening.

The largest multilateral donor to women's reproductive health programs worldwide, UNFPA has been a client since 1994, following the International Conference on Population and Development. We have advised on communications and advocacy strategies and have trained virtually all of the agency's country directors to be more effective spokespeople and advocates. We assist UNFPA annually with the global release of the State of the World Population Report.

As the international development arm of the Episcopal Church, ERD has enormous potential to expand through its church partners in communities throughout the developing world. But first it must expand its donor base in the U.S. Douglas Gould and Company recently re-branded ERD with new messages and a new graphic image, created with extensive input from people throughout the country.

The U.S. advocacy arm of UNFPA, Americans for UNFPA is building public will and financial support for international family planning and women's health programs. We designed their One Woman Can campaign as well as implemented a viral marketing, social networking and blog outreach campaign that has boosted support. We recently created an innovative Web-based tool called LifeLines that allows Americans to compare their life stories and circumstances with those of people around the world.
Blinding trachoma is the world’s leading cause of preventable blindness. With funding from numerous foundations and an open-ended commitment of antibiotic treatment from Pfizer, ITI has demonstrated its effectiveness in Africa. Its success depends on mobilizing local health professionals and policymakers to ensure implementation of the program. Douglas Gould and Company developed an advocacy and communications strategy for ITI.

Marginalized young people across the world do not have access to colleges and universities. The Ford Foundation's Pathways initiative works in 65 institutions in 22 countries to transform admission policies, classroom practices, curricula, daily operations and institutional climate so that a greater number of students from marginalized groups can enroll in college and earn undergraduate degrees. Douglas Gould and Company created a site to increase overall awareness of the initiative as well as give participants a place to share and learn from each other.

The Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO) and its programs address the needs of children in orphanages in Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Ecuador, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Serbia and Vietnam through direct service programs like health care and education. WWO's new Web site – designed by Douglas Gould and Company – will engage visitors, increase its e-mail database and reveal the intimacy, depth and impact of the organization's work.
